The important effect for me is that Knut brought the awareness of global warming and animal welfare into the forefront.
The unprofessional conduct of Dr B may have happened some time ago but his overall attitude towards the care and welfare of wild zoo animals remained unchanged after all these years.
Like the birth of Knut, the news of Dr B's past conduct brought out the issues of animal care and welfare in zoos.
