Vets are tending to a Polar bear which was shot at Moscow Zoo by an unidentified gunman in late October, the Moscow government's information center reported, quoting zoo officials.
The male bear, called Vrangel, is suffering from multiple wounds and doctors are trying to prevent inflammation, a statement said.
Zoo officials believe the bear was shot by a someone in a building near the zoo.
"We express our deep indignation over the behavior of those who committed this indecent action. The 'sniper' probably thinks he is some kind of hero. But there is nothing heroic about shooting a helpless animal from a distance," zoo employees said.
