Hier findest Du die minimalen Abmessungen für Gehege in Gefangenschaft gehaltener Eisbären der WAZA ( World Association of Zoos and Aquariums ):
For existing enclosures, an outdoor enclosure of 400 m² for two compatible adults or a female with cubs should be considered as minimum space requirement. As required by Swiss legislation, it should be possible to subdivide the enclosure, i.e. to keep the bears separated under still acceptable conditions. The enclosure, or each subdivision, must contain a pool of at least 60 m² surface and 120 m³ volume.

EXHIBIT DESIGN
Simulates a natural summer arctic environment using:
natural furniture (logs, rocks, creek bed, garden beds with natural foliage, digging pits)
rock formations varying in height
large salt water pool and three fresh water ponds with waterfalls
weather controls using rain, wind generators and fogging system
Und hier werden im Vergleich drei Eisbärengehege vorgestellt, in Detroit, Baltimore und Queensland
Detroit:
The polar bear area has both tundra and pack-ice environments, and includes a saltwater pool (in the pack-ice area), shallow freshwater pool (in the tundra area), den area, natural substrate for digging day beds, and moats to separate the tundra and pack-ice enclosures from each other. In addition, the exhibit includes a 70-foot-long underwater viewing tunnel so visitors can watch polar bears (and seals, in an adjacent exhibit) dive and swim.
Baltimore
The landscape was designed to mimic the tundra environment of Churchill and includes two pools. Both above- and below-water viewing are possible.
Queensland
The main exhibit has a saltwater pool as well as freshwater, ozone-treated pools. Underwater viewing is available for the public.
Was sagt der Assistant Mammal Curator vom Zoo in Baltimore:
The result? The bears' stereotypical behaviors are virtually gone in the new exhibit, and visitor reactions have been extremely positive.
